Obituary of Helen B. Roberts

Helen Blaettler Roberts, age 99, of Deansboro, passed away April 9, 2024, at The Eastern Star Home.

She was born on April 23, 1924, in the Town of Brookfield, NY.  She was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph and Barbara Bahr Blaettler and graduated from Bridgewater High School, Class of 1942.  On February 13, 1943, Helen married Hugh J. Roberts in West Winfield, NY.  After marriage, they settled in Deansboro, NY. Helen was then employed as a forklift driver at Griffiss Air Force Base for a few years before doing what she enjoyed, helping on the farm and raising their family.  She continued to help her sons on the family farm after Hugh passed away in 1979. Helen was also predeceased by her children, Karen, Hugh and Fred Roberts; her sisters, Agnes and Marie; and brothers Joseph, Arnold, Walter and Marriette Blaettler.

She is survived by her daughter Joan and Robert Miller, and their family, granddaughter Teresa and Aaron Lee, great-granddaughter Lucy Lee, and grandson Erik Miller and Jana Prager; her son Ken and Rita Roberts and their family, grandson Ken and Kara Roberts, great-grandchildren, Merissa, Kayle, Logan and Addison Roberts; two nieces Suellen Jones and Ann Renninger; and nephew Doug Sango. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Monday, April 15, 2024, at St. Bernard’s Church in Waterville.  There will be no public calling hours.  She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.  Please consider donations to St. Bernard’s Church in Helen’s memory.
