Obituary of Frank W. Tallman

Frank passed away on August 24, 2015 at his home after a short illness. He was born on May 31, 1924 in Deansboro, NY the eldest son of Frank and Bessie (Lines) Tallman. He attended Madison Central School. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, Poland and Germany. He was a lifetime member of the Oriskany Falls American Legion Post #569 and the Clinton V.F.W. Post # 9591. In 1947 in Oriskany Falls he married Beverly Colman a union which lasted until his death. Frank worked hard all his life from the time he was a child when he picked berries and sold them for a nickel a quart. After working on construction for B.W. Husted and Germond Bros. he owned and operated a dump truck for many years, he then worked as a truck mechanic for D.W. Winkleman and Eastern Rock Products retiring from there in 1987. After his retirement he spent many hours in his beloved garage restoring old bicycles and gas pumps and visiting with friends. He always had "one more job to do". Besides his wife of 68 yrs. he leaves 2 daughters and their spouses, 4 sons and 3 daughter-in-laws. Bethany (Allan) Winner of Bouckville, Debra (Richard) Barnes of Waterville, Barry (Jean) Tallman, of Oriskany Falls, Douglas of Oriskany Falls, Terrance (Rose) of Nicholasville, KY and Brian (Teresa) of Waterville, NY, 12 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, a sister Janette Glouse of Bouckville, NY and a brother Richard of Lakeside, CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons Frank Scott and David Edward, his older sister Leola Monroe, two brothers James and Ronald Tallman and his oldest Grandson William L. Frederick III. Adhering to his wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in Deansboro Cemetary at the convenience of the family. In his memory please consider the Oriskany Falls Fire Department Ambulance Fund or your favorite charity.
